Portpatrick is a charming, small fishing port, with a lovely sandy beach and harbour as the focal point of the village. There are a good number of restaurants, cafes and pubs along the waterfront including the Crown, which has a good reputation for good pub grub, the Waterfront, Dine at Dunskey Guest House, the Fernhill, Portpatrick Golf Club and the Port Pantry. The village also has a putting green, children's play park and tennis court. Cedar Lodge is right next door to the Portpatrick Dunskey golf course so it's ideally located if you are playing a round or two of golf in south west Scotland. There are other good courses nearby including Stranraer Golf Club and Wigtownshire Golf Course. Portpatrick sits at the gateway to the Southern Upland Way. The Portpatrick area really is spoilt for sandy beaches from the beach at the harbour and Sandhead to Killantringan. There are a number of wonderful gardens nearby to visit including the Logan Botanic Garden, Castle Kennedy Gardens and Glenwhan. There are lots of visitor attractions from the Mull of Galloway, Logan Fish Pond and Kitchen Coos and Ewes to Culzean Castle and Dumfries House up the coast in Ayrshire. Venture overseas on a ferry from Cairnryan and take a day trip to Ireland to visit Belfast and the Titanic Museum.
