Everything. It’s pure haven. Cosy, comfortable, everything works well. It’s dead quiet yet only yards from the High Street and fabulous coffee and pastries in Barrells’. Really close to the train station.

Hi and welcome to my home! I want guests to enjoy this space as much as I love it. From personally renovating this cottage and bringing it back to life, The Cottage of Content retains all the quirks and character of its Victorian roots, while being fully equipped with everything you need for a truly relaxing stay. Elegant interiors with period features and thoughtful touches 47” Smart HD TV & unlimited WiFi Cosy log burner for chilly evenings Underfloor heating Sleek modern kitchen with induction hob, microwave & brand-new appliances Wet room bathroom Super King size main bedroom Double bed second bedroom Private garden Minutes away from the river! As the house is old, the stairs are steep, so please be mindful. PARKING Free, on-street parking is available nearby. Whether you're here to unwind, explore, or simply enjoy the beauty of Wivenhoe and the surrounding areas I can’t wait to welcome you to Cottage of Content. Well behaved dogs are welcomed.
I’m a local Wivenhoe resident and have grown up in the town, so I’m always happy to share tips on the best places to explore. I love running and cycling along the river trails and spending time socialising with family and friends in Wivenhoe’s many welcoming pubs. Alongside working full time, I take real pride in making this cottage a warm and relaxing space where guests can unwind and feel at home during their stay.
Guests love Wivenhoe for its relaxed riverside feel, strong sense of community, and easy access to both nature and great places to eat and drink. The town sits along the River Colne and is perfect for walking, running, or cycling, with scenic trails that follow the water and connect to nearby countryside. It’s especially popular with guests who enjoy being outdoors but still want the convenience of local amenities. Wivenhoe has a lovely mix of independent cafés, pubs, and restaurants, many of them clustered near the waterfront and the High Street. Popular local pubs are ideal for a casual meal or a drink and are great places to soak up the friendly, social atmosphere of the town. The weekly Wivenhoe Market and local shops give the area a welcoming, village-like charm. For culture and day trips, Wivenhoe is just a short train ride from Colchester, home to Colchester Castle and museums, while the University of Essex is nearby and often hosts events and exhibitions. Nature lovers also enjoy exploring nearby beaches and estuary walks along the Essex coast. Overall, guests appreciate Wivenhoe for being peaceful, walkable, and full of character, a place where it’s easy to slow down, relax, and feel like a local.
