Located just 20 minutes' walk from York Minster, The Dairy is a converted town dairy set in a restored and upgraded Victorian townhouse with many original features. It is 15 minutes' walk from the Shambles. Each individually styled room has a TV with a DVD player, hot drink facilities, mineral water, a hairdryer and an alarm clock. You will also find toiletries in the rooms. Every morning, guests will enjoy a traditional English breakfast with locally sourced produce, York bacon and sausages, free range eggs and York honey. A lighter option with cereals and yogurt is also available. Local attractions include York Racecourse, 1.5 miles away, while the National Railway Museum is 1.1 miles away. Fulford Golf Club is 2 miles away and York Railway Station is 0.6 mile away.

I initially trained as a primary school teacher and after 30 years living in London decided that the pull of family and the county of my birth was too strong to resist so I bought the Dairy in early 2014 and have spent the past several years gently peeling away layers of tired decoration to reveal the buildings original Victorian features.

The Dairy Guest House is a lovingly restored and upgraded Victorian town house, retaining its character and original features, such as stained and etched glass windows, pitch pine doors and staircase, cast iron fire grates and wonderfully ornate ceiling roses and cornices. The Dairy is set around a flower-filled, smoke-free courtyard, with charming cottage styled rooms which offer warmth and welcome.

Neighborhood info

The Dairy is located on the corner of Bishopthorpe Road, 'Bishy Road' to the locals was awarded best local High Street of the year 2015. We are a thriving community with cafes, shops and restaurants and just a 10 minute walk from the city centre.
