This Grade II listed manor house was built in the late 17 century with additions in the 1850's to create the shop and additional dwelling. In addition to purchasing groceries at the village store you could also purchase alcoholic drinks. It was also around this time that the house gained brick cladding to the walls to the south, east and west, with only the front retaining its plaster finish. It was owned by Euston estate until 1977. Since then it has had two owners prior to our family. The land was separated into two parts in the early 2000's and the old stables converted to residential accommodation.
We are James and Natalya and we’ve lived here since 2023, inheriting the house from James’ parents (who’d owned it for 15 years). We have adult children and one grandchild (none of whom live locally!) and enjoy visiting them and our friends, cycling, gliding, volunteering with Air Cadets, eating out, and walking our dogs. We hope you have a lovely stay in our annexe.
This is a quiet village in rural East Anglia. We have a modern village hall (built in 2014) with lots of activities, a river, two churches and a pub all within walking distance of the property. Other amenities are a short car drive away. There are some lovely walks in the area. Knettishall Heath, Barnhamcross Common and Thetford Forest are all less than 15 minutes drive away. We are 20 minutes from Bury St Edmunds, 15 minutes from Thetford and there are plenty of National Trust properties within easy reach. We are just off the Wolf Way (a popular cycling route), close to Will Lord of the Stone Age (book courses to learn prehistoric skills!), Euston Hall, Baham Zoo and Snetterton Race Circuit.
