The historical market town of Barnard Castle is famous for ’The Banks’, antique shops, tea rooms and boutique shops. Fishing is available by permit on the River Tees. Hamsterley Forest has nature trails, pony trekking and mountain bike routes. High Force waterfall (the highest in England) and Beamish Museum are worth a visit.
