Loved the close proximity to the Castle. Very easy walking distance. This is a very old building (i.e. 1600’s). There was a lovely little garden in the back and plenty of space to park. The owner is a very knowledgeable and helpful local who gave us dining suggestions and helped us figure out where everything was.

Slightly old and rundown on the outside, but inside is the total opposite with good, clean, modern facilities and rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. There is a pool, but we didn't get to try it, but lots of local people seemed to be turning up to use it

Perfect location. Lovely old building. Friendly staff. Plenty of car park places. Comfortable bed and pillows, wasnt keen on the shower gel and handwash as I hate sage.. Breakfast was great, lots of choice. Would recommend this hotel.

Supperb location for visiting other areas.

Supperb location for visiting other areas. We had a drive to Richmond beautiful town a short drive away. We called into the King's Head Hotel and booked a table before we went shopping aruound the beautiful town. The meal was excellent. Very scenic views from the hotel and enroute.

Great breakfast including easy access to Gluten Free. Good clean room and very helpful staff despite being busy. Room ready and even allowed us to store an expensive bike in our room overnight. Had given us a ground floor as a result. Our full car of other luggage was safe in the well lit and monitored car park. We noted several car chargers available there too should that be needed. We were able to park our car outside our bedroom window which also gave us peace of mind.

Great place to stay whilst exploring Yorkshire, Durham and Teesside. Good ammeties and car parking. Excellent breakfast and Italian restaurant for evening dining. Well stocked bar with plenty of seating. Good conference facilities and a great place for parties. The staff are excellent and make the stay especially pleasant. Weekdays are cheaper than weekends.

Location excellent for overnight stays to break journey and adjacent to A1 junction. Had evening meal in near by village at 400 year old pub, “Shoulder of Mutton”, food excellent and only couple of miles away. Hotel right by motorway junction. Called again at this pub for late lunch on our return from Scotland.

Large bright room, very comfortable kingsize bed and lovely big shower. Aircon was the quietest we have ever had in any hotel. Evening meal and breakfast provided plenty of food choices and everything looked fresh and appealing. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We were very surprised at the high standard of this hotel.

Nice hotel but it smelt old. Rooms were nice but dark and corridors could do with bit sprucing up. Few flowers or bright pics in wall or something to make it feel a bit more homely and brighten it up
