This delightful and cosy, single-storey, detached holiday cottage has been furnished to a high standard and has pleasant views across open countryside. The hills in the distance are the Nine Nicks of Thirlwall along the ridge of which runs Hadrian's Wall. The cottage is set within over an acre of land and situated within 50m of the line of the wall and the National Trail. It sits on the edge of the village, in a very tranquil location being the last property on a very quiet lane.
Hilary and I live in the countryside of northern England overlooking Hadrian's Wall. We both like the open air and countryside, spending a lot of time in our garden.
Cottage is on edge of a village along a quiet country lane. The village has two pubs (the nearest, The Samson, serving meals) and a tearoom. It is 4 miles to the shops and facilities of Haltwhistle and 8 miles to Brampton. The historic city of Carlisle and town of Hexham are each about 17 miles. Hadrian's Wall trail passes within 50m of cottage and cycle route 52 passes through the village. local attractions are; Birdoswald Roman Fort and Visitor centre, 3.7 km; Roman Army Museum, 4 km; The Sill, 7.7 km; Vindolanda roman fort and visitor centre, 14 km; Houseteads roman fort and visitor centre, 16km.
