Our family has lived at Red House Estate for nearly 50 years, arriving when it was a boarding preparatory school and now a livery yard with a number of cottages around the grounds.

Property info

Garden House is set on a private family estate of 70 acres. There is shared use of a heated, seasonal swimming pool and a seasonal, grass tennis court and croquet lawn. It is recently refurbished with four en suite bedrooms, sleeping eight and a very spacious living/dining area and well-equipped kitchen. The very large patio has views across fields of grazing horses with seating for eight and a barbecue. There are many walks in the woods or along the river and easy access in to the ancient city of York or the spa town of Harrogate. York boasts many historic attractions including the National Railway Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and the Theatre Royal and a variety of shopping facilities whilst Harrogate has many gardens and boutique shops to visit.

Neighborhood info

We are set in a very rural position, down a lane of nearly two miles, where the estate consists of the main manor house and eight other cottages. The River Ouse runs at the end of the estate and it is possible to walk in to York, about an hour, and there are many other walks in the surrounding woods and countryside. We have a number of local pubs and eateries in the villages nearby. York is a mere 9 kilometres away with a number of museums, shopping facilities and eateries and Harrogate with its gardens and Betty's Café is only a 40 minute drive away. Knaresborough, Tadcaster and Wetherby are just a short drive away.
