Farm Stay -Looking for a unique kind of holiday? A private and peaceful fully equipped lodge with its own Hydropool hot tub situated on a idyllic 75 acre farm stay where you can watch and cuddle animals by day and then relax and unwind in the hot tub by night. Only 20 minutes from the dark sky status Galloway Forest Park so the night skies are incredible. Coming down the drive you'll enter a completely idyllic world, one that the outside world doesn't even know is here with no light pollution or outside noise. A place where you can completely relax and forget about life's stresses. The farm is situated along the Nithsdale Valley so the scenery is breathtaking. It is the home of the award winning Nithsdale Valais Blacknose flock, a breed of sheep known for their very friendly nature and cute appearance. A holiday with real feast for the eyes and a calming of the soul. Glen Bay Lodge is a spacious and fully equipped 2 bedroom (SuperKing & Twin) lodge on a farmstay deep in the East Ayrshire countryside with lots of friendly animal rescues such as dogs, cats, horses and Shetlands with pet sheep, goats and chickens also on site as well as the abundant surrounding wildlife. The peaceful Lodge is detached & private with the River Nith running through the farm grounds. There is plenty to do with entertainment for all the family both on and off site. The West facing terrace with garden furniture or the private hot tub are perfect for sitting in and watching the busy bird life, animals and sunsets from. You can meet all the animals too. Once evening arrives, why not sit in the hot tub watching the clear skies at night? There's plenty to do indoors with a smart tv, dvd player, wifi, board games and books to keep you entertained. Walks can be taken straight from the door, down to the beautiful river Nith, or surrounding area with wildlife, incl birds of prey, herons, Roe deer and otters. A haven for bird watchers and photographers or those who love animals & peace!
I moved to Scotland 5 years ago with my gorgeous dog, Dali, a now 8 year old Dalmatian who will want to say hello and have a cuddle with you. In the few years that I have been here I have rehomed a number of rescue animals who now live a pampered life of luxury including 3 other Dalmatian crosses, cats, 2 Shetlands and horses as well as hatching my own rare breed chickens whose eggs are delicious and available to buy. I also have some very friendly Swiss Valais Blacknose pet sheep and goats that I have raised who follow me everywhere! You are very welcome to come find me and meet all the animals here. I'm usually surrounded by several of them! Do please be aware that is a working farm with a river flowing on the boundary so children must ALWAYS be supervised and accompanied by an adult member of your party. Also, the dogs cannot be shut away for your stay. Although very friendly, if you or your family do not like dogs, this may not be the best place for your vacation as they love to interact with guests and get cuddles. The drive down to the farm is a single farm track and will more than likely have animals on it so must always be taken slowly. PLEASE NOTE - TOWELS ARE NO LONGER PROVIDED IN THE LODGE so please bring your own. Running the farm by myself, and all the laundry being done in house, I just couldn't keep up with all the washing especially with the quick changeovers with shorter stays. Spare towels are also a good idea to bring so you always have dry ones for the hot tub.
Dumfries House, recently bought and redone by Prince Charles, is just outside of New Cumnock as are a range of beautiful walks. The Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100-mile long coastal walk with one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles, a short drive away. There are golf courses around and a local spa if you fancy a day of pampering. Ayr's sandy beach and popular beachside town is under an hour away and what about panning for gold at Wanlockhead? If you are a fan of Scotland's own Robert Burns there are plenty of memorials and museums celebrating him & his works. Or maybe you'd like to go for an experience day with a local farm's gorgeous Clydesdales? If any of your party fancy doing some horse riding there are plenty of recommended riding schools in the area. Galloway Forest Park, the largest forest in the UK as well as the first park given the much coveted status of a Dark Skies Park is a short drive away with gorgeous scenery & wildlife as well as the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory located on the Northern edge of the park. Glasgow is just over an hour away for a day out in town. Ayrshire's history is beautifully on display with nearby Drumlanrig and Culzean castles.
