By day, meet and cuddle the friendly animals that call the farm home: the award-winning Nithsdale Valais Blacknose sheep, goats, horses, dogs, cats, Shetlands, peafowl, Highland coos, as well as watch the abundant wildlife. Watch the animals play, say hello to them and give them a scratch or simply sit and admire their charm. By night, relax in the hot tub under some of the darkest, most stunning skies in Scotland, just 20 minutes from Galloway Forest Park. The spacious, detached lodge features three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a west-facing terrace perfect for sunsets or spotting birds, otters, roe deer, bats, herons, and other wildlife. Indoors, enjoy a wall mounted 50" smart TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi, board games, and books—or simply let the quiet wash over you. I moved to Scotland a few years ago with my gorgeous dog, Dali, a now 10 year old Dalmatian who will want to say hello and have a cuddle with you. In the 7 or so years or so that I have been here I have rehomed a number of animals who now live a pampered life of luxury including 3 other Dalmatian crosses, 2 more Dalmatians, cats, Shetlands, horses, ponies as well as hatching my own rare breed chickens whose eggs are delicious and available to buy. I also have some very friendly Valais pet sheep and goats that love a good scratch and cuddle as well as some peafowl and newly arrived Highland coos! You are very welcome to come find me for a tour and meet all the animals here. I'm usually surrounded by them! Do please be aware that is a working farm with some big animals, farm machinery as well as a river flowing on the boundary so children must ALWAYS be supervised and accompanied by an adult member of your party. Also, the dogs cannot be shut away for your stay. They are very friendly and very used to guests however, if you or someone in your party does not like dogs, this may not be the best setting for your vacation. The drive is a single farm track, often with animals on it, as well as drainage pipes so it must be taken slowly. PLEASE NOTE - towels are not provided in the lodge so please bring your own. Running the farm by myself, with all the laundry being done in house, I just couldn't keep up with all the washing especially with the quick changeovers with shorter stays. Spare towels are also a good idea to bring so you always have dry ones for the hot tub.
