The formal gardens surrounding the hall are equally lovely. The gatehouse, design by the famed architect Inigo Jones, stands guard over a huge expanse of lawn complete with your own private lake. Beyond the lake the oak woodland has been designated as a site of specific scientific interest due to its rare flora and fauna. Head west along the old drovers road through the surrounding farmland to Llyn Bodlyn lake and the mountains of southern Eryri. Alternatively, head east back down the drive and guests can enjoy miles of un-spoilt sandy beaches. Lots of activities in the area. Adrenaline fuelled days out on the zip lines in Blaenau or mountain biking in Coed Y Brenin might be popular with some. More lazy outings to The Royal St David’s Golf course or a tour round Harlech Castle might be favoured by others. There’s one pub just within walking distance through the woods with a wider selection of hostelries and restaurants a short drive away in Barmouth or Harlech.
