Set in the heart of rural Argyll, Inverawe offers a wonderful base for your holidays .Forget all the stresses of today and step out into a paradise of wildlife, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the many walks and woods. Watch the roe deer sneak through the garden, the rabbits on the lawn. Inverawe is a paradise for dogs, children and adults alike. The three cottages are comfortable, cosy and welcoming. Ideal for a family holiday and/or fishing holiday with both trout loch fish and salmon river fishing right on the doorstep. The Inverawe Smokery and Shop is just next door, with its café and shop full of smoked goodies and other gourmet delights. The nearby village of Taynuilt offers a real proper butchers, grocery, post office, golf course and local pub serving meals. Oban is just 30 minutes on the coast and is the gateway to the Isles. A day trip to Mull and Iona is a must do.

What I love about Inverawe is that you can open the front door and go straight for a walk in the most wonderful scenery. I love the fact that the surrounding woods are teaming with wildlife and birds. Often you catch a glimpse of a red deer or roe deer, red squirrels and even sometimes the very shy pole cat, while above the buzzards soar higher and higher. Down by the loch there is a whole other life – seals, otters, oyster catchers, cormorants, ducks – wild flowers and fauna everywhere.

Inverawe location is brilliant for touring the area. Go north up the spectacular west coast scenery passing Appin and Castle Stalker up to Fort William and the ski lift open all year round to the top of Ben Nevis, coming back through the historic Glencoe where the Campbells and MacDonalds have such a fraught history. Or go south via Inverary with its castle and jail, past Crarae Gardens down to the Crinan Canal, then back up towards Oban through the historic Standing Stones of Kilmartin, Arduaine Gardens and Oban. Oban is a visit in itself and the gateway to the islands and Mull and Iona. One of my favourite places to visit is just next door in Loch Awe, St Conans Kirk an amazing A listed historic building, full of amazing romantic history. Follow the road out of Loch Awe, just over the river, turn right onto a track. This is the little known car park to Kilchurn Castle, an ancient Campbell ruin.
