Breakfast was great! Setting and rooms out of a movie gorgeous! Sayward our concierge was exceptional in every respect and we enjoyed role playing in their first mystery dinner. Dinner was elegant and Paul and his wife, owners, deserve a round of applause for their warmth and hospitality!

Unforgettable Experience at Promenade 17, Oban! From the very moment of our arrival, the warm welcome and outstanding hospitality made us feel right at home. The hotel boasts elegantly designed interiors that exude both style and comfort. We couldn't resist the SPAGHETTI ALLO SCOGLIO at the dining room during our three-day visit - a culinary masterpiece brimming with Langoustine, Mussels, Squid, and Clams in a tantalizing White Wine Garlic Chili Sauce. Each breakfast was a treat to start the day. The hotel staff's relentless efforts to ensure guests feel valued were apparent throughout. A visit to Oban? Make sure Promenade 17 is on your itinerary for both accommodation and dining

The location was great, right along the seafront in Oban. The place was spotless and in excellent condition. But what set it apart for us was the staff and the overall service. Carrie was informative and friendly throughout our stay. From the warm welcome, to helpful information during our stay, through to the friendly goodbye to us and our dog on departure, she and the rest of the staff made the visit one we hope to repeat. Breakfast, too, was well executed and made for a nice start to each day.

I have stayed at many places but the Oyster Inn surpasses every other place by far. From the warm welcome and information given on check in to the beautiful clean comfortable room to the excellent meal and service. Breakfast was plentiful and very enjoyable. I must mention William ( table / bar staff) what a personality and smiled the whole time. Interaction with staff and customers was entertaining and refreshing. A total asset to the already fantastic team. Would highly recommend this place for a visit.

FAQs about hotels in Oban

Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.

The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.

Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.

Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

I spent just two days in Oban because I was transit to Tiree. I ate in the Chilli Grillz on the George Street and in the Corryvreckan in the harbor. Both of them were delicious and friendly. I slept in the the Dunright Guesthouse and in the Corran House Guesthouse. Both of them are recommended because the rooms are clean and tidy and comfortable. And both of them has excellent panorama for the sea and the harbor.

Oban is a bustling port full of interesting history and wonderful cafés and eateries. The people are super friendly and the views across the bay stunning. You can book ferries to explore the islands which I did and had a great adventure day trip at sea- covering 3 islands in a day. Next time I'll be venturing futher out and using Oban as a base before and after.

This city is delightful.

This city is delightful. The history is impressive and the opportunities to visit islands are wonderful. The trip to Iona and back takes most of the day so the time on Iona is short for a one day experience. I would have liked to have stayed in Iona for a night or two. The castle Donollie is a very easy to walk from town and watching the video that explains the history is a must in order to appreciate, the history, land and culture. The Oban distillery tasting/tour is informative and fun. There are several good sea food restaurants. Prepare for rainy weather.

We were celebrating our 40th Ruby Wedding Anniversary with a re-run of our honeymoon. Oban bring our second place we travelled to. The Alexandra Muthu Hotel was wonderful and made our stay very special. Staff were very happy and attentive. All our meals, Breakfast and Evening meals were had in the Hotel. Oban was delightful as always. We had been several times before and still keep coming back. Caledonian MacBrayne offers several routes to the surrounding Islands, which we have used on previous holidays to Oban. Numerous shops and tea shops on the High Street. Only downside was weather - it rained for the few days we were there. Unfortunately no-one can control that but the Hotel experience and beautiful scenery of Oban made up for the weather.

I had a view of the sea and that was most important for me. The room was just fine. The shower had great pressure and very hot water. Plenty of towels. Breakfast was a full one with a reasonable choice. I would have preferred some rolls in addition to bread slices. It would be great if an automatic coffee machine were to be installed. The coffee was drinkable - but just. I have no complaints about the staff. In all, it fulfilled my expectations for a third star hotel. I would use it again were I to stay in Oban.
