Kerswell Farmhouse Boutique Bed & Breakfast is a 400-year-old South Devon longhouse that takes its name from its wells and cress beds which are fed by nearby springs. Located in a beautiful and secluded part of the South Hams between Totnes and Dartmouth and set in 14 acres of rolling countryside it enjoys spectacular views towards Dartmoor. Five double bedrooms have individually designed en suite bathrooms. Each bedroom is fitted in English oak and furnished with an elegant blend of antique and contemporary pieces and original artwork. Generously sized beds are complemented by luxurious fine cotton sheets. Other features enjoyed by all rooms include free Wi-Fi internet access, under floor heating, flat-screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. An excellent Devonshire breakfast is served using fresh home and local produce. Kerswell Farmhouse is fully licensed and offers an honesty bar in the Art Gallery and an extensive cellar.
Graham and Nichola Hawkins welcome you to Kerswell Farmhouse. Their aim is offer a unique, luxurious boutique bed and breakfast experience in their 400-year-old Devon longhouse which is set in the idyllic landscape of the South Hams. Graham spent his professional life in education but after 17 years in the Middle East, leading a large international school, he has returned to Devon to run the Kerswell Farmhouse office. Graham is putting his academic background in history to good use by offering personally guided tours with topics as diverse as tin mining on Dartmoor and Agatha Christie’s Devon. He has also found time to enjoy his hobbies of collecting modern British art and enjoying fine wine by establishing a small art gallery at Kerswell and building a splendid cellar for guests. Nichola brings to the venture a passion for design and fine cooking. After a career in interior design she set up a company restoring old farmhouses and cottages as well as providing a design service to hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. Her love of cooking has been life-long and she has a particular interest in producing breakfast dishes based on locally available produce.
Kerswell Farmhouse is located in one of the most beautiful and varied destinations in the UK. The farmhouse is situated half way between the towns of Totnes and Dartmouth and is but a short drive to some spectacular locations including the Dart Estuary, Dartmoor, the South Devon Coast, 5 National Trust properties, 3 English Heritage properties, 2 heritage steam railways and dozens of attractive small towns and villages. There are opportunities for riding, golf, sailing, boating, kayaking, fly fishing, walking and swimming on a dozen unspoilt beaches. Above all there is the immediate setting of the farmhouse with expansive views towards Dartmoor. Enjoy the tranquility of the setting, wander through the 14 acres of farm to visit the chickens, lambs, pigs and ponies. Sit by the old watercress spring and pond or explore the many footpaths in the area some of which lead to excellent local inns that provide fine ales, wines and spirits and quality dining.
