Whitby oozes nostalgic charm. With a beautiful Blue Flag beach and fish restaurants renowned for their catch of the day, Whitby is the perfect place for a seaside getaway. Behind all of the quintessential seaside glamour though lies a town brimming with history. On the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Drive just a few minutes along the coast and you'll find Whitby Golf Club and the very popular, dog-friendly Sandsend beach with its beautiful, safe and clean sands, café’s and a local pub. If you're looking for some peaceful walks out of town then head to the countryside and explore its many scenic walking routes and delicious country pubs. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. In particular, Dalby Forest and Guisborough Forest are a short drive away and have various beautiful walking and cycling routes to explore, as well as picnic areas and segways.
