Our period property lies in the small country town of Stalbridge, in the beautiful Blackmore Vale. The Old Drill Hall has been sensitively converted by its owners to provide this cosy but spacious one bedroom property, with a modern, open plan living style, whilst retaining all the charm of the old building. As you walk up the entrance steps you arrive at the open plan living area, perfect for relaxing, cooking and dining. The lounge area is perfect for relaxing in, with its comfy 2 seater settee/sofa bed, coffee table and a smart tv. The property is also fitted with a free, fast broadband connection. The kitchen area has everything you need to make a lovely breakfast, lunch or dinner, with a 4 ring gas hob and fitted electric oven, a microwave oven, a four slice toaster, a kettle and an under counter refrigerator. Pots, pans, plates, utensils and glasses are all provided, but if you don’t fancy cooking there are three cafes, three takeaways and an Indian restaurant to choose from, all just short walk away. The dining area has seating for four people at the lovely wooden dining table, and is situated just off to the side of the kitchen area in a cosy corner. The spacious bedroom on the first floor area is the perfect place for a good night’s sleep, with a comfy double bed, dressing area and relaxing area with its own sofa and tv. The comfy double bed has a lovely bedside table and reading lamp on both sides. There is also a settee on the first floor. There is a four drawer dressing unit in the spacious dressing area, together with a built in wardrobe. Also on the first floor our comfy settee is a great quiet space to relax and read a book or watch tv. The bathroom on the first floor area has a lovely shower cubicle, a wash basin with mirrored cupboard above it and a handy storage cupboard.
Our property is an hour’s drive to the stunning beaches and coves of the Jurassic coast. Historic houses like The Newt, Sherborne Castle, Kingston Lacy, Stourhead and Longleat are within easy reach, as is the ancient hilltop town of Shaftesbury. In Stalbridge itself the local butchers and deli Else’s is a few hundred yards away at the top of Station Road, and a few hundred more is the multi-award winning Dike & Son independent superstore, famous for stocking food delights from hundreds of local suppliers. You can also buy jams, chutneys, sauces, granola, biscuits and a whole lot more from Thyme after Time Cafe & Catering at the bottom of Station Road, and if you happen to miss the opening times of all of those, then try the post office shop, open early and late, which stocks snacks, sweets, drinks and other food essentials. There is also Ring Street Filling Station, where you can grab a fresh coffee and a snack, when you fill up the car for a trip. Whether you’re planning to dine in, using our well appointed kitchen or fancy popping out for a takeaway or a bite to eat, Stalbridge has all you need. Stalbridge boasts three cafes in town, all with different offerings. Thyme after Time Cafe is a couple of minutes walk at the bottom of Station Road. They serve freshly made breakfasts, lunches, cakes and cream teas. Vera’s Coffee shop at Williams Nursery serves delicious cakes, coffees and teas, and Dike & Son has its own in-store cafe called William’s, serving breakfasts and lunches. Finally, about a 5 minute drive away is Spirehill Cafe, set in the courtyard of a farm, serving breakfasts and lunches. Takeaways serving Fish & Chips, Chinese, Pizzas, Kebabs & Burgers, Pasties & Sausage Rolls and Indian Curries are all catered for in Stalbridge. The Swan in Stalbridge is a fun and friendly Free House with 2 bars, outside garden area and skittle alley. The Swan holds Meat Raffles, Quiz Nights and an ever increasing calendar of great live music from local singer songwriters
