We had an amazing time at this hotel. The room was very clean, newly refurbished and spacious. The bedding was super comfortable. The room had a great selection of teas, coffee, including caffetier and ground coffee, as well as a range of loveliest biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge - wow, we loved the extra touch. And the hotel staff was very helpful! Highly recommended!

Exceptional value! We knew the property would be lovely from the pictures but for the price of the room it was beautiful, incredibly clean and spacious, including the bathroom which was gorgeous. The staff were lovely, very attentive, and the food (we had dinner) was absolutely brilliant. The bed was also very lovely - I had the best night's sleep I have had in a long time!

FAQs about hotels in Dorset

Southern English Natural Charm

With one of the highest proportions of conservation areas in England, the Dorset County includes 2 ‘Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ covering more than half of its territory. It is also famous for the ‘Jurassic Coast’, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that actually represents three-quarters of the county’s coastline.

Considering that half of the population lives in the south-east of the county, Dorset is characterised by an enchanting countryside atmosphere. Languid limestone hills and clay valleys cover a big part of its surface. Loads of Dorset hotels and inns are spread throughout this area.

Shaftesbury is one of the most picturesque towns, rolling down the hill with old rural houses. A visit to the chief town of Dorchester and its County Museum is a must. Check out some of the Dorset boutique hotels located in old refurbished manor houses, and spread throughout the county.

The Jurassic Coast runs along 155 km. It includes magnificent formations like the Lulworth Cove and the Durdle Door arch, plus the Isle of Portland with Chesil Beach and its large tidal lagoon.

The cities of Weymouth, Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch are located along its coasts. Experience this charming piece of England, don’t miss the Booking.com special offers for Dorset hotels.

Excellent throughout booking and our stay. We were travelling just before storm Bert took hold, and were allowed to book in early and given a parking permit to use for the weekend. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and comfortable, with lots of small touches to make our stay effortless. The fridge with welcome drinks and fresh milk available 24/7.Breakfast was unique, never had a hamper of scrumptious food delivered to my room door in a hamper before. Not only was the food scrumptious, there was plenty for both of us. Then there was the “treat” on Sunday. Homemade Tiramisu, the best we’ve ever had. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

The Hotel is great facilitates, a very large restaurant and breakfast area. We had dinner in the restaurant and food was amazing. The Hotel is about 10 mins or so from Swanage, with a bus stop outside, we managed to grab a taxi back to hotel one evening when exploring Swanage. The hotel has a small golf course, swimming pool (indoor and outdoor) and the walk to the beach is less than 5 mins, there is a section which is steep down to the beach, but stick with it as it is worth the views of Studland, definitely will be returning the Hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful historic town that's very walkable to shops, parks, the river, and interesting historical sites. Locals are very friendly and willing to share knowledge of the town's special sites. We enjoyed learning something new or finding a new special place every day. The botanical gardens, Maumbury Rings, Maiden Castle, Roman Townhouse, Hangman's Cottage, the skate park, river, and walks to nearby towns and the university made our stay full of adventures. We learned about historical figures like Thomas Hardy, Sylvia Townsend Warner, and learned the history of some books like Tess of the D'Urbervilles and The Mayor of Casterbridge. We love this town!

I loved the high street shops and eating places.

I loved the high street shops and eating places. The staff in the eateries we attended were jolly and very attentive. The pavements were in a poor state and not suitable for elderly or infirm. Not wide enough for a 'walker' so it was difficult with my elderly mum. I didn't realise how steep the access to the beach was, so we had to navigate 'car pick ups' for the return journey. The bus to return was not obvious. Sales information online did not make this clear. Not recommended for the elderly.

The Abbey and Castles are well worth a visit and some time spent on site just absorbing the locations, buildings and historic cultural legacy. Always love visiting Lulworth Cove.

Always love visiting Lulworth Cove. It's such a beautiful place and the place to walk to Durdle Door from. So much there for a Cove. Lulworth Lodge is excellent for accommodation, food and service. The Cove is stunning with amenities, cafés, ice cream, food, pubs, public toilets, visitor centre and stunning natural beauty. You can do a boat ride to Durdle Door which is fantastic, swim in the Cove, walk along the beach, even use the sauna run by Lulworth Lodge. One of my favourite places to be. Lovely to stay over too and see the Cove quiet was amazing.
