The location was amazing! Derrick was a wonderful host. And his granddaughter welcomed us with the most amazing and beautiful cupcakes on arrival. Derrick gave all the best recommendations on what to see, where to eat, and history of the hotel itself.

Great for a young family everything in one place and plenty to do. Beach is clean feels Safe and has lifeguards- well maintained Had fireworks on one evening Lots of different places to eat and drink - the Brazilian Steak House highly recommended !! The fun fairs I didn’t think were overly expensive We completed a Weymouth Treasure Trail which is a great way to find a little more about the towns history - good fun!! We also enjoyed days out at Portland & Lyme Regis

We had a large family gathering to celebrate a new baby and met at Bowleaze Cove South's cafe/bar within the Bowleaze Holiday Resort. It was perfect for the occasion and had a spacious outdoor area with large wooden tables outside set beneath a Greek type of canopy and close to a children's playground area so that adults could talk, but also watch the children. The cafe allowed dogs on the premises. Excellent drinks service and food including wonderful selection of pizzas. The following morning we met at Billy Winter's Beach Cafe at Portland beach, it has a lovely atmosphere, very well designed and laid back, friendly place for children and dogs, excellent menu with adequate vegetarian options, and delectable cakes. A wonderful pink flamingo in of the toilets and very quirky environment, loved it. Excellent cafe right on the pebble beach, with a view over the sea and safe area for water sports and paddle boarders. Dogs allowed on the beach under supervision of course.

I liked the fireworks display 1st Monday of the month, the boat cafe live music on the beach on Tuesday and Thursdays. The black dog foe excellent ploughman's and food. The Tin Cat for excellent food deals and live band on Friday. Getting the open top bus to portland. ( dont get on the number 1 buss, it won't take you to lighthouse) Buss trip to Lulworth cove. Beach can be busy at times and right side of beach is for dogs.

A bit too busy for us, obviously peak holiday time with millions of children!! Parking/setting down on the seafront difficult for disabled people (my wife is one) and meant I had to leave her to wait whilst I found somewhere to park and walk back. Not a complaint, but observation. Families had along way to get to the beach with children and equipment. Despite that, Punch and Judy were great!

Lovely, long clean beach, beautiful clear, clean sea with nice views on either side, cliffs, hills etc and illuminations in the other side. Always a joy to see the clock tower and other monuments. Town was clean with lots of interesting and unusual shops. We especially liked the evening band on the seafront and the entertainment in the evening in the Royal hotel. The little train ride around the town was particularly fun and a great way to see all round the town and a further afield nearly the harbour. My 6 year old boy and elderly father were thrilled and so was I by what we saw on this train ride and it also took them to. Places that would have been too far to walk to. We were fascinated by the lifting bridge at the Weymouth Harbour and the boats and pictoresque buildings were very attractive to look at. We especially liked the sweet shop near the beach and the pink cake shop and the jewellers next door where we got a watch battery changed for a very reasonable price. We liked the stationary, wooden Punch and Judy Theatre on the beach although sadly we didn't manage to see any shows. The seafront and town overall felt calm, safe and very clean.

Weymouth is a very central location to tour many nearby sites in Dorset. But it is much more commercial and there are too many tourists on the beaches and public areas. If you are looking for a quaint, quiet town, this is not your stay.

A definite must, when visiting Weymouth. The staff were superb, as was the hotel, and location. Situated opposite the beach, a few minutes walk from the Pavilion Theatre, town centre and harbour. The hotel appears to have had a recent renovation , but keeping it's character. We truly enjoyed our stay .
