Company info

Today, Outwood House is owned by Elspeth and Richard Taylor and has been open as Bed & Breakfast since June 2025. Elspeth grew up in the house from 1980 and remembers having much fun as a child ringing the servant bells. Elspeth and Richard renovated the house in 2011, adding an additional bay window and more ensuite bathrooms. Outwood House remains our family home. We have three adult sons – one married, one living in Italy and one at university. We look forward to welcoming you as our guests.

Outwood House is a country house in the city. Dating from 1754 the house is situated in an acre of mature gardens and is some five miles from the centre of Leeds. Guests love exploring the city and the Yorkshire Dales and returning to their home from home to relax. We love Yorkshire products, including our sumptuous bed and mattresses from Harrison Spinks; and fabrics from Abraham Moon.

Outwood House is conveniently located for local restaurants in Horsforth, including the Michelin rated Bavette – which was named the Best Local Restaurant 2024 in the Good Food Guide; The Forde – with Matt Healy a contestant from Professional MasterChef; two Italian restaurants Pranzo and il Forno plus a Miller & Carter steak house at the end of the lane.
