Property info

Raasay House offers peaceful accommodation on the Isle of Raasay, just a short ferry crossing from the Isle of Skye. Set within spacious grounds with panoramic views towards the Cuillin mountains, it is an ideal base for exploring the Skye and the Inner Hebrides - while enjoying a quieter island setting. This historic house has stood on the site since the 1500s and was once the clan seat of the Macleod chiefs of Raasay. After being rebuilt in 1747 following the Battle of Culloden, it later welcomed Samuel Johnson and James Boswell during their famous tour of the Hebrides. Following careful restoration after fire damage in 2009, Raasay House reopened in 2013, combining heritage with modern comfort. Today, guests can choose from a range of room types to suit different budgets, all within a relaxed atmosphere. The property also features an on-site restaurant, licensed bar and café, open to both residents and visitors. Outdoor activities, including bike hire, archery and wildlife boat trips, are available directly from the property. Raasay House is a family-run, not-for-profit business within a community-owned building. When you stay with us, you help support island life on Raasay.
