Spacious and bright room with beautiful views over Ryde Pier, the Solent and mainland England beyond. The room features a King Size bed, private ensuite bathroom and a bay window with comfy chair to admire the views. The beach is just minutes away, as is the town with shops, restaurants and cafes. Within easy walking distance are transport hubs such as ferries to the mainland, as well as local buses and railways.
In our lives we have been lucky enough to do a great deal of travelling. Our travels included living on our sailboat for 15 years while we sailed from New Zealand to the Mediterranean. As part of that we have been privileged to meet people from all over the world, all cultures, creeds and professions. We are happy to welcome you all to our beloved home.
Anchor Down Cottage is located on a quiet, pretty little street just minutes away from beautiful Appley Beach and a 5-minute walk from Ryde town centre with its many shops and restaurants. The house was built in 1937, between the World Wars and retains some of its original characteristics from that time. The street has an even older history, with ties to Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. The Isle of Wight as a whole, is an island full of history and with many historic attraction, as well as being a great beach resort. In fact Queen Victoria thought that the island was the best place in Britain and spent as much time as possible in her "Country Cottage", Osborne House, which is now open to the public. We think she was right.
