The location was great - 2 minutes' walk from the cathedral. It is on the first floor in a very old building that has been restored by the hosts. The flat is beautifully done with great attention to detail and re-use of old materials. There is...

This cosy home from home is in the heart of the historic city of Gloucester and is a perfect base for work or leisure trips. A one bedroom flat offering fresh, modern comfort in a grade II historic listed building with protected 16th century wall paintings. The property lies under the gaze of the magnificent cathedral which is just 1 minute walk away. The flat is also very close to Blackfriars, the Folk Museum, Gloucester Historic Docks, Gloucester Quays, and Kingsholm rugby stadium. Paying car parks are very close by with the nearest being just 2 minutes walk from the property. However it is only a 10 minute walk from both train and bus stations. I provide the following so that hopefully your stay is comfortable. * 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen. * Quality bathroom towels (large and hand). * Natural toiletries, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner, by Faith In Nature. * Hob, oven, kettle, toaster, microwave, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, tea pot and cafetiere. * Teas (breakfast, earl grey, fruit/herbal), coffees (ground and instant), milks (cow and oat), sugar. * 40” Smart TV, books, games, puzzles. * Free WiFi; Bluetooth DAB radio; hair dryer; iron and ironing board. * There are no harsh chemicals in the flat, all cleaning products and toiletries are plant based and not harmful to the environment. Sustainability, recycling and the environment are very important to me. The flat is easy to find as it is above the shop Manifest on Westgate St. However the entrance is round the corner in Bull Lane.
This property is hosted by myself, Jeannie, and my husband Jake who is the person responsible for the conservation and renovation of this very old building. I personally take care of all the work involved in running the holiday flat, it is not run by an agency. As the owner, it's important to me to be the person responsible for the condition of the flat and the standard of the cleaning. I need to know that my guests are staying somewhere that I would be happy to stay in.
Westgate Street in Gloucester is a vibrant array of independent shops, restaurants and cafes. It is right next to Gloucester Cathedral that towers majestically above the skyline of the old buildings that make up Gloucester city centre. The flat itself is just one minute walk from the Cathedral entrance. Gloucester Cathedral is spectacular in itself, but is also of interest to Harry Potter fans, as many of the scenes for Hogwarts were filmed in the cloisters of the Cathedral. Further down Westgate Street is Gloucester Folk Museum, which is worth a visit if only to see the wonderful building it inhabits. Across from Westgate St, in Eastgate St, you will find Gloucester Guildhall which is the home of live music and dance, comedy, an indie cinema and much more. Gloucester itself is steeped in history and for long time was a very important town, some would say it still is. There are history tours that are easy to book on to that will take you around the city and reveal its historic secrets to you. Nearby at Gloucester Quays and the Docks, there are many restaurants, both mainstream and independent. Also at the Docks you can get boat trips, and visit the National Waterways Museum.
