The location for our stay was excellent. It is a quiet side road with a large garden at the back and a church by the side so a very quiet and peaceful place. We could imagine how wonderfully cozy the cottage would be with the log burner going....

The house is a hidden gem in every aspect! The location is superb. It is an old cottage in a tiny village adjacent to a typical English old church and its surrounding graveyard with weathered old tombstones. The one shop in town is the local...

This two-bed cottage in Broadwindsor sleeps four guests and sits beside the historic village church in Dorset walking country. Built from honey-coloured stone, the cottage is set over two floors with exposed beams, stone walls and original stone hearths throughout. Bedroom one has a double bed. Bedroom two has two single beds that can be combined to make a double, so the layout suits families or two couples. A beamed living room with a wood burner in the stone hearth and a Smart TV flows through to a second sitting room with more seating. The green country kitchen has a range cooker and a Belfast sink under wide windows looking onto the garden, with a separate utility area and washing machine off to the side. A rustic beamed dining space seats six for longer meals. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries. A lawned garden wraps the cottage, with seating and a patio corner for meals outside. This is a period stone building, so some doorways and steps are low and uneven, and a staircase leads up to the bedrooms. Dogs are welcome, making this a pet-friendly base for walkers after a quiet village setting. Self check-in is available from four in the afternoon via a lockbox at the property, with full details sent on the morning of arrival. Early check-in and late check-out may be available at ten Pounds per hour, subject to availability, and can be requested after booking.

Broadwindsor is a quiet Dorset village of honey-stone cottages, and the property sits right beside the historic village church in proper hillwalking country. The White Lion, a seventeenth-century pub serving locally brewed Palmers ale with open log fires, is a one to two minute walk in the village square. The Stableyard Restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and cream teas, and Redlands Yard, home to independent shops and galleries, are both five to ten minutes on foot. Lewesdon Hill, the highest point in Dorset with its Iron Age hillfort, is about a mile away, and Pilsdon Pen, with panoramic views over the Marshwood Vale, is a five to ten minute drive. Beaminster Museum is around ten minutes by car, where you can also find everyday shops and a Co-op for essentials. Mapperton House and Gardens is a ten to fifteen minute drive, with Forde Abbey and Gardens fifteen to twenty minutes away. The Damory Coaches bus route forty stops in the village and links to Beaminster. Bournemouth Airport is around an hour by car, and a car makes day trips easiest.
