Breakfast was simple but varied with plenty of options. Fantastic views across the hills at breakfast. Rosemary kindly provided some snacks for lunch as we were walking that day.

The location is great, we took a walk into Whitby which was quite pleasant. The fish and chip restaurant just up the road is really good. We also ate at the Plough, a pub within walking distance which was very quiet but served good food

NON - SMOKING ACCOMMODATION Previously a guest house until 2013 the property has once again been opened to guests. Spread over several floors (ground floor, first floor and second floor) the property benefits from large rooms at both the front and back which are spacious and flooded with natural light. Areas to the rear of the house have extensive views of the garden and Esk Valley. Two room options are available for guests to book: a budget double room en-suite or a larger double bedroom en-suite with a breakfast option and access to a kitchenette plus garden space. Both options can be booked together for guests wanting the whole house. The sitting room and ensuite double bedrooms are located at the front of the property on the ground floor and first floor respectively. These rooms may have some traffic noise due to being at the front of the property. Depending on the room type booked there is also a dining room and small kitchenette available for guests to use plus access to the garden. The dining room is located at the back of the property and is accessed via the side hallway / cloakroom. The dining room has extensive views of the garden and Esk Valley and along with the conservatory is the perfect place to sit in the evening watching the bats or listening to the owls. The kitchenette consists of a double electric cooking ring, 800W mini oven and grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, small fridge. Tea, coffee and sugar along with crockery, cutlery, pans and utensils are provided. Milk can be found in the fridge. Guests choosing the breakfast option will be left a continental style breakfast consisting of cereal, toast, orange juice, croissant, milk, jams and marmalade. This is a non-smoking property and guests are requested by the owner not to smoke in the property. If you are wishing to bring children please ask in advance.
I work away as a school nurse at a boarding school and am also a member of the local Mountain Rescue Team so may not always be available during your stay. When I am at the property I live in the main part of the house with my own sitting room, kitchen, dining area.
Pub and fish & chip shop within walking distance. For anyone arriving by public transport there is a stop outside for both the Coastliner and local bus. There is a train station at the bottom end of the village for connections to the mainline.
