Southfield House is a very special property with a unique history. Its use has ranged from a high school for girls in Victorian times to a convalescent home for Free French officers stationed in Hornsea during WW2 - hence the air raid shelter built into the garden (still exists) and a gun placement up on the tower (unsurprisingly removed). As this is my home too, I personally welcome all guests and like to make sure that they have as comfortable a stay as possible.

I have lived here for almost 25 years, but only adapted the top floor as a self contained apartment in 2016. I write - most recently a book on Lawrence of Arabia during the time he frequently visited Hornsea, and shortly before his untimely death (This Squalid Little Room), a copy of which is available in the apartment. I also fundraise for Marie Curie Nurses

Hornsea is a lovely self contained town and Southfield House is close to most amenities: shops, supermarkets, bakeries, cafes and restaurants, and a leisure centre with swimming pool. The sea is a five-minute walk away, the Mere 15-20 minutes, Hornsea Museum, 5-minutes.
