Whitby is popular all year round with several festivals such as the annual Folk week, Regatta, the famous Goth weekends held in April & October. The Coast line is spectacular & forms part of the Cleveland Way walk that passes through Whitby and down to its final destination in Filey, all 109 miles. Great for those who love the great outdoors. The court yard leads out to an array of shops, independent cafe's, traditional pubs, wine bars. Everything is in walking distance. Just along the Coastline there is a choice of stunning beaches, some of them award winning, including Sandsend which you can walk to from Whitby's main beach. One of the draws to Whitby is the famous Whitby Abbey, its interesting history, being the home of the Dracula, Captain Cook who sailed from Whitby on his voyage to discover Australia, New Zealand & Hawaii, you can visit the museum or the replica of his Ship, the Endeavour, in the harbour which houses an exhibition and restaurant. Cant forget the best fish and chips in the UK! You can sample some of the locally fresh caught fish from many of the independent fishmongers.
