Location was excellent. The stairs were a bit of an obstacle course but we knew there were lots of steps and we are in the older age bracket!

This charming late Georgian flat is ideal for families or friends sharing. With a master bedroom, a double room and a further twin room, this property can accommodate up to 6 people. There are 3 floors accessed by a wooden spiral staircase, therefore we would not recommend this accommodation for those with any mobility issues or young children . You will be located right in the heart of historic Ross-on-Wye with multiple cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants and shops right on your door step. Amenities; On the 1st floor there is a well equipped kitchen with a hob, oven, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer and breakfast bar. There is a dining/living area on this floor along with a tv. There is a bathroom with shower on the 2nd floor, along with the Master bedroom and twin room. On the top floor there is a luxury bath tub in the double bedroom. Adjacent to this bedroom is a further living area with sofas and a tv. Outside; On the 1st floor there is a small decking area, with seating and a coffee table. wifi available Parking; 2 hour free parking is available on Church Street near the property entrance. This is free between 6pm and 8am and all day Sunday. If there are no spaces here, there is further 2 hour free parking available at the nearby Royal Hotel. For peace of mind there is paid parking at the Corn Exchange car park, which is a 3 minute walk from the property. Again this is free between 6pm and 8pm, and on Sundays. With different tariffs available, this car park costs 6 pounds for 24 hours. Access; Although the address is for the High Street, access to the property is via Church Street. Here you will see an open doorway that opens into a courtyard. There is a short flight of steps down to a green doorway with a sign denoting the 'Ginger Nut'. There is a keysafe to the right of the doorway. Once through the door, there are a flight of stairs that leads to your own private entrance to the flat.
Welcome to the Ginger Nut! We are a family run concern and want to share with you the special and quirky delights of this charming period property. We used to own the cafe below but it's now to leased and they're doing a much better job than we did! We love this flat because it's unconventional, very interesting and just a nice place to be. We have decorated in keeping with this building's Georgian heritage and hopefully you will appreciate it's original features. The main living area and Master bedroom has very large original sash windows inlaid with original wood paneling. On the top floor, there are many exposed beams that are original. There is also a dormer window with far ranging views over Ross and to the countryside beyond. We have tried to make you a home from home with all bed linen and towels provided. The kitchen has all the equipment you need to make a meal and your 1st cup of tea. Please bear in mind this is an old building which includes a couple of sloping floors and a bulging wall. However, this is what makes it such a charming property and we hope you enjoy a comfortable stay.
Things to do; The beautiful River Wye is only a five minute walk. Popular pastimes are canoeing, paddle boarding or simply strolling along the banks enjoying nature. There are Riverside bars/restaurants and cafes here also. If you're lucky, there are often events and small festivals ongoing during the Summer months down by the River. Historical context; The property is directly opposite the 16th century market place, a main focal point of Ross's centre. There are many other period properties and antique shops that you can spend an afternoon wondering around. Eating and going out; The flat is above the Boabab Tree cafe, which is accessed via the High Street. This relaxing and beautifully decorated cafe offers breakfast options from 9am and also some traditional and unique dishes throughout the day. The Priory a few doors up offers a traditional English Breakfasts from 9am. There are many other cafes close by. The Kings Head is a beautiful old coaching inn across the road, and serves good food throughout the day and evening. There are many other bar, pub and restaurants as well as a good range of takeaway options all within a very short walking distance. Nearby; The Towns of Ledbury and Monmouth are other market towns are within a 20 minute drive and are well worth a visit. Symonds Yat is a 10 minute drive and here you will find the spectacular steep wooded hillsides of the Forest of Dean coming down to meet the River Wye. There are riverside walks and canoeists and Kayakers enjoy shooting the rapids. Canoe hire is available here as well as in Ross. The Forest of Dean beyond Symonds Yat is a large area that sits between the Wye and River Severn. It's known for it's large wooded expanse where you might well catch a glimpse of a wild boar that abound in the area. There are many woodland tracks and it's a popular spot for mountain biking, with it's own cycle centre.
