On a clear day, you can even spot Edinburgh’s skyline. Lower Largo: Just down the hill from Upper Largo, this quaint coastal village is famous as the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe. A statue marks the spot near the harbour. Largo Bay Beach: Stretching along the coast from Lower Largo, this long, sandy beach is ideal for peaceful walks, beachcombing, or even a chilly dip. At low tide, it feels expansive and uncrowded, even in summer. Fife Coastal Path: One of Scotland’s best long-distance walking routes runs through Lower Largo.
