The Old English Room in Bowles House is a beautiful centrally located duplex apartment in Falmouth with views across the town and the harbour. Bowles House is Grade II listed and was built in 1907 as the Clare Terrace School, a junior school for girls who wouldn’t have previously been able to attend school. It later became part of Falmouth Art School. It was built in a Jacobean style that was used for many board schools in the early 1900s. Latterly it was the Falmouth-Penryn Adult Education Centre before being converted in 2007 into homes. Mrs F Bowles laid the memorial stone, hence it took the name ‘Bowles House’ when it was converted.
Hello and welcome to Falmouth! We live with our son in the heart of Falmouth. While we are relatively new to holidays lets, my career has been in hospitality as a wedding and events planner, so we’re always happy to help and make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Bowles House is on Clare Terrace / Wodehouse Lane and is situated on the last road at the 'top of town' before you start heading down the hill into town. Because of this, the views from the road looking across the harbour are stunning. The area is residential and wonderfully quiet, but still only a short walk into the centre of town.
Like most of Cornwall and especially coastal towns, you can't avoid hills - the quickest and most direct walk into town is straight down the hill from the communal gardens just a few metres away, but you may prefer use a taxi or town bus to come back!
