The iconic long-distance trail of the Pennine Way passes through the village itself, while the must-visit scenery of Hadrian’s Wall country is on your doorstep. The charming market town of Haltwhistle lies a 20-minute drive to the north and is the closest to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall. Keen historians will enjoy exploring the well-preserved Roman forts of Vindolanda and Housesteads, alongside their excellent museums, while walkers have access to the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail which stretches 84 miles from coast to coast.
