The property was built in 1866 and is a Victorian Building that has been renovated and added to and used as a B & B and Guest House since 1950. It is now one of the Top 5 Small Establishments with a 4 Star Guest Accommodation Rating with Silver Award for High Quality of Accommodation and Customer Service with also achieved the Breakfast Award for variety of menu along with a 5 Star Food Hygiene Certificate & small honesty bar, since we became hosts.
We are a couple that moved from West London to the Isle of Wight in 2007 and have been running the business ever since. I was a Chartered Surveyor and Chris was a School Bursar but fancied a change of life from the London rat race! I am a keen sportsperson and currently play Bowls and a National level.
Shanklin - With its stunning wide, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, expansive countryside, town, Old Village with over 20 local restaurants all within a 10-minute walk, 60 various attractions on the Island, walking and cycling routes, and excellent transport links from the mainland and across the Island, Shanklin really is the ideal location to base yourself for your Isle of Wight holiday. The Swiss Cottage is only 200 yards away from the cliff top/cliff lift/steps down to Shanklin Beach (Sorry we do not have any sea views) & also 100 yards away from the start of the High Street up to the Old Village and also 300 yards away from Bus & Train Stations, so we are ideally located in a quiet road the Heart of Shanklin!
