Colintraive is located on the west coast of the Cowal peninsula, facing the Kyles of Bute. It is rather a small village mainly comprising of the hotel with pub and restaurant and its small adjoining post office. The nearest neighbouring village is Glendaruel which is another quaint location, home to Kilmodan Church, Glendaruel Bridge and the ruined Dunans Castle.
