This is Stan and Norie your hosts at Tides Reach. I am a retired sea captain who has travelled extensively and still love and enjoy the sea. Norie is a retired NHS nurse practisioner who loves to keep Tides Reach neat and tidy for our guests. I am a volunteer teaching young kids to sail on the mainland and operate the safety boat when they get it wrong. Its my job to ensure everything is ship shape for your stay. The decor within Tide's Reach has a nautical theme as you may expect and binoculars are provided so that you can view the many cruise ships passing on a daily basis from Portsmouth and Southampton. In the area there is something for everyone. Many visitors from all over the world arrive to visit the 200 yr old Shanklin Chine and stroll through the Old Village with its quaint thatched buildings. Within the town of Shanklin itself there is a very good theatre and Michelin stared restaurants. You can hire canoes, take banana rides and take sea trips on your doorstep and for children there are many theme parks and amusements within strolling distance. Outdoor types will enjoy cliff top walks and walks along the beach to other places. Cycling is very popular too.
