“Tobar nan Iasgair” means “Well of the fisherman”, for centuries, fishing boats would anchor here to fill up with fresh water. Bill who built the house for himself and his wife Doranne, was also a fisherman! It’s a cosy, spacious family home, with wonderful views across Loch Linnhie, Benderloch, Ben Cruachan, and to the ferry and Island's, comings and goings. If you like sea swimming, its a 2 minure walk to go for a dip! There's a TV, Wi-Fi, a well equipped kitchen, a sun porch, and a garden area. My place is ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends. The 2 x front rooms have king size beds and a fold down chair bed. There is a double bed in the third bedroom. There are some steps into the house from the porch, at the back door there are 2 steps. Once inside there is level access to all the rooms. The kitchen has many family items as it isn't only a "holiday home". Guests can access the sun porch, the garden at the front and rear, the 2 front bedrooms, and one rear bedroom. The sitting room, the kitchen, bathroom, toilet. We would ask guests to stay in the immediate garden area, the 2 sheds should not be accessed.

Hi, I am looking forward to meeting you and having you stay in our cottage, The island is very beautiful, but remember your walking boots and rainwear! The cottage is right next to where the ferry arrives from Oban so its very handy, but the last ferry leaves Oban at 5pm. Check out the times on the CalMac website. There is a passenger ferry in Port Appin, this goes more frequently and is a 10 minute crossing. The Island is very accessible, but it is still an island and there are storms, fog, engine trouble, tidal difficulties and of course ferry times, so sometimes you have to be flexible and relaxed in your approach as Island life can mean things don’t always go to plan! There’s no point in getting harassed, so my motto is: Go with the flow!

The house has the most amazing views, the ferry arrives just in front of the house so you can sit and watch the comings and goings, sheep going to market, the post van collecting mail, people going shopping. 2.5 km inland,The local shop and post office is a "must" the hub of the island, it is very well stocked. Another 1km from the shop miles further inland there is the cafe,library, museum and heritage centre. The Church of St Moluag, is a further 1km,Moluag settled on Lismore around 562, having trained at Bennnchar, modern day Bangor. The ferry leaves almost from the house and takes you straight into Oban, this is a fun thriving port with lovely scenery, pubs, cafe's bars shops etc Or take the ferry at the other end, go to Port Appin and have a meal in the Pier house hotel world famous for its seafood. Explore Appin the setting for Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped" see the hills and Glens of the Stewart's of Appin and speak to locals about the mystery surrounding the "Appin murder" Lismore is ideally situated for taking day trips to the mainland, Fort William, Oban, visit Mull, Iona, Kerrera, Lochgilphead, Inveraray, Inverness, and Skye. all doable from the island!
