Crossmichael village is just a short walk from the property and offers a small inn serving meals and a village shop. The busy rural market town of Castle Douglas is less than a ten minute drive away, offering a wide range of amenities. These include a range of interesting independent shops, art galleries, a community run theatre which doubles as a cinema, cafes, restaurants & pubs, a swimming pool, a 9-hole golf course, and a small independent brewery. Loch Ken lies to the back of the village with excellent bird watching opportunities, the loch also has many water sports available including free fishing on parts. The nearby Galloway Activity Centre provides both water and land based activities for all ages including sailing, canoeing and paddle boarding. The Galloway Forest and Solway Coast are easily reached with their wonderful wildlife, scenery, peace and tranquillity. The forest also has excellent provision for active pursuits with the 7Stanes Mountain Bike Network offering routes for all levels of ability. The Galloway Forest was designated Britain's first dark Sky Park and on a clear night, due to the low levels of light pollution the star gazing opportunities are unsurpassed.
