West Moor View is situated within an area of outstanding natural beauty next to and overlooking Bodmin moor. Surrounded by countryside, lakes and plenty of scenic walks which lead to some of the best moorland pubs in Cornwall. We are conveniently placed in a pleasant rural setting but also within a 30 minute drive of some of the best beaches in the county and only 5 minutes from the main A30. The annex works as great base full of home comforts allowing you access to all areas of Devon and Cornwall. Our self contained studio annex allows you your own private kitchen area, en-suite shower room and has an external entrance with private parking on a large shared drive. There is also a top garden reserved for guests over looking the moors with a table to enjoy the view. Whilst we are happy to accept a well behaved dog at no additional charge we would ask you to just make us aware at the time of your booking.

My wife and I live in the main house with our daughter. We have a variety of rescue animals that live with us including dogs, cats, tortoises and chickens all of which are friendly. With the annex being slightly recessed back from our main house and having its own external entrance, it allows you the privacy to enjoy your own time here but with the added security we are only next door. We very much enjoy hosting guests which hopefully is well reflected in our reviews and we’ll certainly do what we can to ensure everyone who stays with us enjoys their time here.

Situated on the very edge of Bodmin Moor there are several public footpaths close to us that allow access to some of the highest points in Cornwall. Even with our rural location we are fortunate enough to have some excellent local facilities nearby with the majority within walking distance. West Kernick Tea Garden. This is just a 3 minute walk away. The ‘Tea Shanty’ is open 6 days a week between 1pm - 8pm (Wed-Mon) and offers a range of lunches, evening meals, lite bites, soups, cream teas and hot drinks for a very reasonable price. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and is pet friendly. (Cash only) The Rising Sun Inn. Approximately a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive. Recently featured in Rick Steins Cornwall TV series, this is a very popular restaurant offering excellent food and drink which now features in the ‘Michelin restaurant guide’ for Cornwall. An excellent choice for any special occasion and very good value. Booking is recommended on weekends especially if you intend to bring a dog. The Kings Head. Another excellent pub/restaurant which is very popular with locals for traditional pub meals and especially for a Sunday carvery. Very reasonably priced and less than 10 minute drive or a 40 minute walk. Altarnun Village Shop. A small village shop in the centre of the village open every morning (other than Wednesday and Sunday) offering local produce and amenities should you not wish to travel into the nearby town of Launceston. The shop again is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk.
