The Kormoranos-Hydrobates Villa is located in the historical industrial district of Tabakaria of the wider area Halepa, right above the sea, proud on the rocks and is 2 kilometers away from the center of Chania, Crete. It is an old tannery, which restored and arranged for its new use in 2024, consequently and respect to the Greek regulations of the architectural composition for the former industrial buildings in the area. It covers 340 square meters interior, has a private swimming pool and a jacuzzi οn the veranda, amazing and unobstructed panoramic view towards the Cretan Sea. A heated pool and jacuzzi are available upon request for a minimum of 2 days, at an additional cost per night. Advance notice of 2–3 days is required, as the pool is exposed to the north and, especially during the winter months (December–March), more time is needed to reach the desired temperature. Alongside, it is fully equipped providing guests comfortable and relaxing accommodation.

Our villas are located in Tabakaria, one of the most atmospheric seaside neighborhoods of Chania, known for its historic 19th-century tanneries and impressive architecture. The Tabakaria district flourished during the interwar period. Although the tanneries paused during the German Occupation, they revived strongly after the war. From the 1970s onward, activity gradually declined, and today only a small number remain in operation. Many of the original buildings are now abandoned or have been restored for new uses—just like our villas. What remains unchanged is the striking industrial architecture and the dramatic seaside setting, with buildings entering from the road and cascading down toward the water. Within a short walk, guests can visit the Archaeological Museum of Chania and the Eleftherios Venizelos Residence Museum, as well as dine at excellent Mediterranean restaurants such as Periplous and Blue. For swimming, just 100 meters east lies the charming natural cove of Kouloura Beach, while about 1,3 km west you can visit Koum Kapi Beach, with a small sandy beach surrounded by cafés and restaurants, both easily accessible on foot. Walking west from Koum Kapi Beach, you will reach the Old Venetian Harbour and the Old Town of Chania!
