> It was in the middle of the last century, when Michail Pateros emigrated to Germany. There he worked for more than 35 years, but his heart always remained in Chania, his place of birth and home nation. Every year he came back for his holidays and constructed his dream: a hotel, which he built with his own hands. Therefore it took a lot of years until it was finished. After he retired, he returned to Crete and run the hotel together with his wife Maria. It was named Penelopi, the first name of his mother. For many years, they had many guests from many countries. But then his health failed and in 2013 his wife and he passed away. His daughter in law Athina and his son Jianni, both born and raised in Germany, returned to Chania after completing their training and took over the hotel. They have refurbished and modernized it thoroughly. Now in hands of the next generation it has awakened to new life.
