Vir is a northern Dalmatian island, located only 20 minutes from Zadar and 10 minutes from the historic town of Nin and it is connected to the mainland by bridge. The exceptional clarity of the Vir Sea from the western and southern sides will attract you to the coves of Duboka draga or Crvena Zemlja, Svrdljača, Radnjača, Velika and Mala Slatina, Lučica, Žitna, Prezida, Jadro and many other coves hidden in the deep shade of pine trees. The most famous sights are the Venetian fortress of Kaštelina and the Lanterna lighthouse, being the first renovated historical lighthouse. A panoramic view of the entire island, the Vir Sea and the Nova Povljana Channel can be seen from the top of the Bandira hill, from which you can also take a hike to the archaeological site of Smratina.
