Molat island is rich with vegetation and a patadise for boaters and beach lovers. The island has been regarded as a secret tourist tip and is, therefore, still untouched by mass tourism making it a haven of peace and tranquility. Molat belongs to Zadar archipelago and has about 22 square kilometers. Here there are an unusually high number of natural coves where many beautiful and secluded beaches are just waiting to be discovered. All beaches on the island are ideal for families with small children, since they all always fall very gently into the crystal clear water.
Molat is a very green island, covered with small trees. Two limestone hills rise out of all green, with the highes being 142 meters high. Molat has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the remains of several Liburnian forts in the localities of Straža, Gračina, Lokardenik and Knežak.
In Molat, the Glagolitic language was intensively used, which is confirmed by Glagolitic codes and Glagolitic priests. The now empty school was founded in 1880. In 1926, the Cultural Center was built, and in 1933, the Library was founded.
The most valuable of the sacred buildings is the church of Our Lady of Carmen in Molat, dating from the 15th century. The remains of traditional architecture are partially preserved in Molat at the locations of Kaštel and the Bašić house.
