We are Marcel and Elise. We started years ago in Hengelo (The Netherlands) with Guesthouse Villa de Eikhof. It is now run with a lot of love by our daughter Roos. We live on Gili Air. A calm island where we welcome guests every day with pleasure. We enjoy good food, friendly company and slow mornings with coffee by the pool. We want people to feel at home right away. Nothing complicated. Simply warm, open and friendly. In the villa we try to keep everything fresh and comfortable. Clean rooms, small details that make a difference and an atmosphere where you can truly relax. We often walk around to see if everything is going well and we are always happy to stop for a small chat or to share a tip about the island. Guests often tell us that we are relaxed and cheerful. Gili Air is a small and peaceful island. Everything is close and easy, so you can enjoy the days zonder haast. These are activities that I can confirm and that visitors enjoy a lot. Snorkeling is one of the most popular things to do. The water is clear and you can often see turtles, especially on the east side of the island. Renting a bicycle is simple and comfortable. There are no cars. You can cycle around the whole island in about one hour. Watching the sunset on the west side is a daily highlight. There are beach spots where you can sit down, relax and enjoy the view. Yoga and meditation classes are available at several places. It fits well with the calm and slow rhythm of the island. Food is a big part of the experience. You can eat at local warungs or choose restaurants with international dishes. Many places are directly on the beach. Massages are easy to find. The salons offer simple and strong treatments for friendly prices. The real charm of Gili Air is the everyday rhythm. Walking along the sandy paths, swimming, having coffee, talking with locals, reading a book. The island has a quiet atmosphere. That makes even simple moments feel special.
