Apartment is located 1 minute walk from the surfing beach. There's direct access from the apartment onto the beach & outdoor showers & hose pipes for washing boards & wetsuits.
We live in the apartment but work during the day. In our spare time we love being outdoors by daylight either in the ocean or walking. By dark we love the buzz of the village and Sligo City Centre is easily accessible via frequent public transport.
Strandhill is a vibrant, scenic coastal village in County Sligo, Ireland, located about 8 km west of Sligo town at the foot of Knocknarea Mountain. Known as a premier surfing destination on the Wild Atlantic Way, it features a lively atmosphere, sandy beaches, famous seaweed baths, and a challenging 18-hole golf course.  Surfing & Beaches: Strandhill beach offers some of Europe's most consistent surfing breaks, with several surf schools for all levels. Note that the main beach is generally better suited to surfing than swimming due to strong currents. Hiking & Walking: The Queen Maeve Trail is a popular 2.5 km hike to the summit of Knocknarea, where a 5,000-year-old cairn (tomb) stands with panoramic views of the coast. The Killaspugbrone Loop is another popular walk. Relaxation: Strandhill is famous for VOYA Seaweed Baths, offering traditional, relaxing seaweed baths, often described as Ireland’s only indigenous spa therapy. Dining & Entertainment: The village boasts a bustling food scene, including popular spots like The Venue Bar & Restaurant, The Dunes Tavern, Honestly Restaurant, Mammy Johnston's Ice-cream parlour, Tonnta Toasties, Beach Buns and Shells Cafe. Please check Sligo Gig Guide for live entertainment in Strandhill Village and Sligo Town. Traveling between Strandhill and Sligo town is best done via the S2 Bus Eireann bus service, which runs hourly. The journey takes approximately 18–20 minutes, connecting key points like Kilbrone Drive and Sligo Bus Station. Taxis are available for the 9 km trip, taking around 10–15 minutes. If you're travelling with your own car journey usually takes about 10mins.
