The Old House has been in our family for generations. Myself and my sister undertook it as a special project to restore it to its former glory with a modern twist! The setting is idyllic, on 4 acres surrounded by trees and situated at the foot of the garden is a river. The enclosed courtyard, which is south facing is the best sun trap in the world. The property is totally private and has its own boireen (laneway). There are no other houses within view. The inside layout is open plan with high wooden ceilings and 2 balconies. One of the balconies is known as the Romeo and Juliet balcony! We have two master bedrooms ensuite, an open plan double loft bedroom and one closed loft bedroom. There is also a main bathroom with a deep bath on a podium to soak in. The open plan living room and dining area are split by a magnificent natural stone chimney. On one side of the chimney is an open fire for those cold evenings and the other side has a beautiful closed stove. Surrounded on either side of the fires are natural flagstones and natural wooden mantelpieces to give it that rustic effect. Basically you have to stay there to really appreciate its rustic old modern feel.

If you are interested in hiking, fishing or horse riding, it is ideal but you can also find live theaters, shopping and restaurants within a 30 minute drive. The famous Kilkenny arts festival takes place only 30 minutes drive away. If you would like to know what real Ireland is like and how it is lived by the locals you will like this.
