Tig na Failte is on a quiet lane overlooking the sea at Dunmanus Bay with spectacular views of the bay. The grounds are peaceful with a sound of a stream or bird song as you relax and breath in the fresh pure atlantic air. This is an ideal base for visiting West Cork, the Sheeps Head Walking Route, Mizen Head, the islands off the Cork Coast, with the busier tourism area of Co Kerry being 1 hours drive away. The house is family friendly with a playroom for children, a garden with swings and lots of books for adults to read.
Welcome to our home from home. I grew up in the area and know it well. I enjoy walking, water sports, swimming in the sea and food so West Cork is the place I go to relax. ActivityDays is a website which we set up so people could plan and pre book activity before arriving and enjoy the area fully.
* Area is great for walking- house on a quiet lane is part of the Sheeps Head Way, with Dunbeacon stone circle up the hill. * Visit Air India memorial at Ahakista, the Lighthouses at Sheeps Head or Mizen Head; The Famine Story at Skibbereen Heritage Centre; Islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin, Whiddy for a day. * Due to the mild climate caused by the Gulf Stream the Gardens of West Cork are lush, with many open to the public such as Garnish Island, Ewe Garden and the West Cork Garden Trail in May & June. * West Cork has lots of farmers markets with locally grown foods or the following villages are all 10 mins drive away - Ballydehob (The Chestnut, BUdds, Hudsons, Antonio's), Schull ( Glebe House, New Haven), Crookhaven ( o'Sullivan pub), Bantry ( O Connors or Fish Kitchen for Seafood, Organico, Seaview House) Area is great for walking is on a quiet lane whihc is part of the Sheeps Head Way, with a stone circle up the hill.
