The La Rocca holiday apartments offer hospitality in large and charming accommodations recently renovated, in the Tuscan tradition, which all follow the same high-level quality standard. They are located in the heart of Tuscany and are in the immediate vicinity of the cities of art that have made history. The building of the La Rocca holiday apartments stands right at the foot of a hill, a steep ridge, where the three towers of the Palaia fortress stood in ancient times; the complex of this fortress was called "La Rocca", the exact name, which still remains on this hill.
PALAIA is an ancient village located on one of the highest ridges that divide the Arno valley from the Valdera, less than ten minutes from the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway and just over thirty from the Tuscan cities of art (Florence, Lucca , Pisa, Siena, S. Gimignano, Volterra) and from the Tyrrhenian coast. Extended for 73.82 sq km and with about 4500 inhabitants. The Municipality of Palaia, due to the variety and beauty of the territory, due to the importance it had in the course of history, is one of the most interesting realities of the Province of Pisa and of the entire region. The emperors Henry VI, Otto IV and Charles IV granted, with privileges of the year 1191, 1209 and 1355, half of the castle and court of Palaia to the bishops of Lucca and confirmed political and civil jurisdiction to the Pisans. The Florentine government then extended its power there in the year 1406. Many of the Palaio villages have Etruscan and Romanesque origins, but it is from the early Middle Ages that the castles of this area take on more and more importance. The whole territory is rich in works of art, especially Palaia.
