“The greatest happiness is when it is very smalll.” (Franz Kafka) This simply and lovingly restored holiday home has two bedrooms with double beds, as well as a living room with a fireplace and a large sofa bed. It therefore accommodates up to six people. Everywhere you look, you’ll find little details from the time when people used to live here. There is no central heating, but there are wood-burning stoves. The house has two floors, connected by an external staircase. Each bedroom has direct access to a balcony with a stunning view of the wooded hills and the Maira Valley. Around the house there are two terraces for breakfast, as well as smaller spots for relaxing and meditating, and a terraced vegetable garden. The house faces south-east, so you’ll be woken by the morning sun. Our guests love to enjoy their first coffee on the balcony with the sun on their faces. The cosy kitchen-diner is fully equipped. In addition to the gas hob, there is an old wood-burning stove on which you can cook. You can purchase fine, authentic wine from the Langhe here. The finest mountain spring water is available free of charge, as much as you like. Everything is here so that you can feel a little bit at home in the most beautiful abandoned mountain village and relax in its simplicity.

We are Sylvia and Heiko. In 2021, we found a house in Aramola. Or perhaps it was the house that found us. It is almost 250 years old, partly dilapidated, with no electricity or running water. And it is enchantingly beautiful, somehow magical. Just like the whole village. We, for one, fell head over heels in love with it. And we set about breathing new life into the place. Together with people who are from here. And with people who have discovered the place through us. So much has happened since then. We have renovated and refurbished two holiday homes at L’ARAMU. We are currently restoring the new main house, a guesthouse with four guest rooms and an osteria. The opening is planned for September 2026. We invite you to experience this place. As a place of power, where you can retreat from a noisy, hectic world back to the essence of your being. In contact with nature and in connection with the silence, here you can feel how little you actually need. And relax in simplicity.

L’ARAMU is a special place, both powerful and tranquil, nestled amongst mountains and forests. This almost deserted mountain village lies at an altitude of 1,302 metres in the rugged Cottian Alps, in the Maira Valley. It forms part of the Monviso Biosphere Reserve and lies directly on the Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA) long-distance hiking trail and the Percorsi Occitani (PO) network of paths. L’ARAMU is the Occitan name for Aramola. Once, 130 people lived and worked here – in harmony with the natural resources they found here. There were several taverns, a primary school, and a village oven. Yes, there was a functioning, vibrant village life. Until 1974, the village was only accessible on foot. And when the road was finally built, many residents were already in the process of leaving the hamlet. They were seeking work and a more comfortable life in the Po Valley. One of those who returned is Ernesto. He was born in Aramola 81 years ago and is now the only one, apart from us, who still lives here from spring to autumn. He knows every house, every family history, every property boundary. He knows how to live here and tends a beautiful vegetable garden. And we learn from him. We work and live here; you live and spend your holidays in the abandoned mountain village. On the Percorsi Occitani, we are situated directly on the hiking trail at the end of the stage between Marmora and Palent (Stage 12) and at the start of the stage between Palent and Celle Macra (Stage 13).
