Sant’Angelo is the most fascinating and characteristic hamlet on the Island of Ischia, the ideal place to get away from the hectic routine and where you will find serenity by fully immersing yourself in the slow and regenerating island life. Located on the southern coast of Ischia, with a small isthmus, alongside a sandy beach, connects the mainland to a rocky outcrop, which was once topped by a tower destroyed by the English. The old fishing village retains tons of charm and the narrow streets are lined with white-washed and pastel painted buildings. Terraces and balconies offer fabulous views of the marina and sea. The village follows the crescent shape of the coast and has good beaches and quiet coves for swimming and sunbathing. Sant'Angelo has long been the haunt of artists and intellectuals as well as now becoming a destination for celebrities and famous people mooring their yachts and boats in the bay to enjoy its special beauty. The heart of Sant'Angelo is the Piazzetta, a lively central square that opens to the beach for the sun worshippers, while showcasing boutiques, art galleries, shops, bars and restaurants for shopping and fun, both day and night. The long bay extending eastwards from Sant'Angelo is one of the island's most popular beaches, Maronti Beach, and within a short distance is an area of hot springs, which can be reached on foot or by water taxi.
