Company info

Villa Padovani is a story of vision and rebirth. When entrepreneur Remo Padovani acquired this Venetian residence in 2001, he turned himself into something of a geologist: tracing a line on the map from Sirmione, along which thermal waters were already known, he sensed that a spring might lie hidden beneath Villa Padovani too. Having obtained the necessary permits, he had the ground drilled to a depth of 230 metres — until, before long, a flow of water rose from deep in the earth, unmistakable in its scent of sulphur. This is the hyperthermal "Corte dei Frati" spring, whose therapeutic properties would be recognised by decree of the Italian Ministry of Health in 2005. From that discovery came the desire to restore the villa to its former splendour. The restoration of the recovered rooms, carried out with great sensitivity, was honoured in 2018 by the Regional Institute for Venetian Villas with the Villa Veneta Prize for Restoration; around the spring rose the thermal establishment "Le Terme di Remo", which bears the name of the man who brought everything back to life. True to the spirit of the place — "zanzoche non si riposi mai", may it never rest — the villa continues its journey to this day, and the Padovani family safeguards this legacy, preserving its soul. We run it as a residence, not as a hotel: ten suites, never more than twenty guests, an unhurried pace and discreet attention. The choice not to have an in-house restaurant is a deliberate one: we believe the table is an occasion to discover the surrounding area, and we are glad to point you towards the wineries of the Valpolicella and the most authentic local addresses. Our way of understanding hospitality is simple: few people, cared for well. Seeing our guests leave more at ease than when they arrived is the true measure of our work.

Property info

In the heart of the morainic hills between Verona, Lake Garda and the Valpolicella wine region, Villa Padovani is a Venetian residence whose origins date back to the sixteenth century. Awarded the Villa Veneta Prize for Restoration in 2018 by the Regional Institute for Venetian Villas, and classified 5 Lions — the highest distinction for properties set within a historic Venetian villa — it welcomes its guests in ten adults-only suites. The interiors preserve the understated elegance of a historic home: intimate spaces, authentic materials, and silence as a form of luxury. Beneath the villa flows its rarest feature: the "Corte dei Frati" spring, the hottest source in the province of Verona, rising from the ground at 53°C. By decree of the Italian Ministry of Health, its waters are recognised for their therapeutic properties in balneotherapy for rheumatic, dermatological and vascular conditions. The same water, through heat exchangers, warms the interiors and the pools with no combustion at all: here, wellbeing and genuine sustainability spring from the same natural source. Two pools, outdoor and indoor, and an indoor whirlpool are heated by the thermal water; a separate outdoor whirlpool is fed directly by the spring and dedicated to balneotherapy. Never more than twenty guests when the villa is full: here, tranquillity is not a service — it is the natural condition of your stay.

Neighborhood info

What guests love most about our location is the rare balance between the quiet of the Venetian countryside and the closeness of destinations of international renown. This place has even played host to history: in 1796, during the Italian Campaign, the villa served as the headquarters of General Masséna, and tradition holds that Napoleon himself tethered his horse here on his return from nearby Rivoli. Today, Pastrengo offers complete silence without sacrificing ease of movement. We provide electric-assist bicycles: from here you can reach the shores of Lazise and the lakeside cycle path that leads all the way to Peschiera del Garda, along a beautiful route close to nature. Just minutes away lie the loveliest villages on the lake — Lazise, Bardolino, Peschiera — with their Scaliger castles. Verona, with its Arena, Juliet's House and Piazza delle Erbe, is a very short distance away: in summer, the opera nights at the Arena are worth the journey in themselves. Above all, the villa stands at the gateway to the Valpolicella, a region famed worldwide for Amarone. Guests devote themselves to tastings in the historic wineries and discover Veronese cuisine in the area's most authentic trattorias. Our staff is always on hand to recommend the right places and to reserve a table for you.
