Just a two-minute stroll from the Tsugaike ski resort, Chalet Tsugaike is the perfect base for your winter getaway. With three comfortable double bedrooms (one king, two flexible as kings or singles), this warm and inviting chalet sleeps up to six guests. The lounge offers stunning winter views of the Northern Japanese Alps, with clear sights stretching down the Hakuba Valley. Whether you’re here for first tracks in the morning or relaxing evenings with friends and family, you’ll love the combination of alpine charm and modern comfort.
We are a couple of snow loving Kiwis with a simple dream – to live the dream as often as possible! Chasing winters all over the world for many years, Hakuba Matata and Chalet Tsugaike is our way of making mountain life permanent so we can avoid going back to the ‘real world’ to stock up the fun funds as much as possible. Since arriving in 2018 we have made a life here in Hakuba, two children and a dog have joined us in our mountain lifestyle. It’s our goal to share the stoke and love of the mountains with every guest that comes through.
Nestled high in the Northern Japanese Alps, Tsugaike is known for its wide, gentle slopes and stunning scenery — perfect for families, beginners, and powder lovers alike. The village has a relaxed atmosphere with ski rental shops, cozy restaurants, and easy access to the larger Hakuba Valley. From Chalet Tsugaike, you can be on the lifts in minutes and enjoy one of Japan’s most scenic winter destinations right at your doorstep.
