Everything. This is a new hotel, and considering they have only been open for one month, they excelled in every possible way. The rooms are wonderfully spacious, with kitchenettes and even a washing machine. The hotel also has a free shuttle service to pick you up from the station, and get you to the slopes. For skiing, the hotel is perfect. The ski rental, Spicy Rentals, is next door, and the hotel has lockers to keep your equipment. But, perhaps, best of all, there is the restaurant. Incredible French style cooking with Japanese elements. The chef is very creative, and the Maitre D, Mr. Yoshida, was gracious and extremely professional. Their tasting menu is 7 to 8 courses, perfectly cooked and so creatively presented! My wife and I love this hotel!

Tony the manager is a credit to the organisation. He went above and beyond helping everyone with booking food, busses and info on the slopes. All of the other staff were incredible and really made the trip special. Beyond this the location is phenomenal right in the middle of town close to food and the slopes. Opposite the accomadation is the free bus shuttle to the other slopes!

The views from this hotel are incredible, and the smell of the mountains was very soothing. We loved Hakuba. The rooms were extremely comfortable, the staff was exceptional, the views were outstanding, and the hospitality unbeatable. They have an onsen on site. One of the aspects I enjoyed was the bookshelves located on the second floor. I liked looking through the books and enjoying a quiet time in Hakuba, The location of the hotel was convenient to anything you could possibly want within the city, and was a great spot for traveling to Happo-One and Togakushi. When we were leaving, the gentleman at the front desk gave us a Hakuba calendar. It made my eyes water!

Definitely need to come back to this city.

Definitely need to come back to this city. We missed the hike to Happo Pond because the trail was temporarily closed for a week, and the weather was a bit cloudy during our stay following the typhoon. Even so, the city was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. I absolutely loved every moment here and can't wait to return.

We would highly recommend Hotel Restaurant Traumerei to...

We would highly recommend Hotel Restaurant Traumerei to anyone looking for a top notch stay in the mountain area. In May, Hobaka is absolutely beautiful but not as busy as the winter season (it is a ski resort in winter). The place is approximately one hour away from Nagano. Several buses leave the Nagano train station for Hobaka every day and the train station information center has English speakers who are very informative.

The choices of different resorts was great.

The choices of different resorts was great. Having grown up skiing Vermont and New York, we ski expert runs and tree skiing, but not backcountry so much. There are plenty of those types of runs at Hakuba. We only got JAPOW powder on one day where powder was up to the knees, and to be fair, it was a lot of work! I can at least I got to experience it. The other days it really felt like tree skiing in Vermont. We got lucky with the weather as well, temperatures were -5C to +5C in mid-February and lots of blue skies. One reason we chose Echoland as our location to stay is because we did not rent a car. The hotel picked us up at the train station on the day of our arrival and dropped us off at the Happo Bus Terminal on our way back to Tokyo. The hotel also offers free rides to 4 of the resorts - we used the service to get rides to Happo One and 47/Goryu. The other ski days (Cortina/Norikura and Iwatake) it was only an eight-minute walk to the bus stop at the bottom of Echoland. The buses were generally packed, and it was bit confusing on where to pick up the buses at the end of each day to get back to Echoland. The online app helped and we figured it out eventually. Ranking the four - 1. Cortina, 2. Iwatake (JAPOW day), 3. 47/Goryu and 4. Happo (very limited visibility on the day we went). The downside for us was Echoland itself. Tons of restaurants, but there are no supermarkets, 7-11s or pharmacies in Echoland. It is a pretty long walk to any of these places without a car. Also, we were surrounded by Aussies during our time in Echoland, so if you want more of a true Japanese ski trip experience, you may wish to stay elsewhere.

It was my first time to Hakuba and I didn't know what to...

It was my first time to Hakuba and I didn't know what to expect coming from North American resorts and ski hills, but it did not disappoint. It was a bit confusing to figure out the different resorts, towns, and areas to stay ahead of time, but in the end it was easy to get to and from Nagano station, there were multiple snow resorts close by with bus or shuttle service, and our hotel staff were very friendly and informative. We stayed near Happo-One snow resort, and the little town area is great...not a huge area, but everything you need and a variety of places to enjoy after a day on the hill. Ramen 55 is delicious, Blizzard has great pizza, and there were many other bar and restaurant options we didn't even visit because the bar in our hotel was so great!

Really beautiful towel with lots of farmland on the flats with great scenery on the snow cap mountain lots of greenery lots of nice restaurant and good food very easy to travel. There is a huge convenience store and several well-known sport brands in the town centre. The ski resort are well managed with reasonable price which is a bit crowded.

great place to ski for all levels of skier/snowboarder or lover of snow. there are a lot of choices for slopes; although a lot of establishes are closed during lunch and/or closes early at night, people are very friendly and most speak/understand english and/or are very patient with tourists who speak little to no japanese.

The host Takao was very accommodating and allowed for a slightly earlier check in. There was also a private onsen for which we could make a booking for during our stay there. There was parking available if you drive and a coin laundry at the basement. The space in the room was sufficient for 2 open luggages. The location was great as well as it was in the heart of Echoland, 5-10 min drive away from the Goryu-Hakuba 47 and Happo one and a few min walk away from a convenience store and multiple restaurants.

Aci and his family were an amazing hosts. Aci was very helpful answering all my questions. I was a beginner skier and needed recommendations for suitable slops. Aci was giving me lifts to other resorts and bus stop. The location is very close to Goryu ski resort and there are a few yummy restaurants around. Very clean and quiet guesthouse with cozy, traditional Japanese vibes. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. I loved my stay and would definitely come back!

The traditional Japanese style of the property gave it an authentic feel in an otherwise westernised location. It was very close to the Happo One ski resort (walking distance) and many bars and restaurants. The hosts were very accomodating and ensured our stay was easy and enjoyable. The facilities were in excellent condition, from the rooms themselves to the spa and drying room. All were in perfect condition and positively contributed to the overall experience.

Great hotel - the staff went above and beyond to help with restaurant recommendations and bookings, the outside onsen was amazing and the breakfast was also very good. We got a big room, which was great to have extra space for after skiing. The property was in a great location for skiing in Hakuba Goryu, which had the best snow of all the resorts when we were there.

All staffs are friendly and helpful. The room is nice clean and spacious. The foods at the site restaurant were great. I felt so good to sink into warm bath pool after I had snowboarding for whole days. The hotel also provided drop-off and pick-up service. The hotel is just about 3 minutes walking distance to Hakuba Happo One skiing resort.
